Timing vs boost
WebApr 3, 2014 · I dont think to many people have gone over 15-16 degrees of timing on pump gas with 20 plus psi though. Keep in mind when running lower timing your EGTs are going to be higher. Also, since you are running more boost your IATs are going to be higher as well then those of a car with less boost. Apr 3, 2014. WebMay 1, 2024 · So I'm noticing with these cars that when my IAT's are above 83* ish my boost is a little higher in the 5k rpm range and up and my timing drops to 9.5-10.5. With cooler IAT's I'll see less boost and more timing: 12-13.5. The boost fluctuations with air temp I understand, but is there a timing vs...

Mar 11, 2013 #1 I am sure there are lots of variables here regarding boost levels but my questions is specific to lower boost levels. WebMar 20, 2007 · With the MSD6BTM you can also run a stock or nearly stock ignition timing which will result in good 'off the line' performance but it also retards the timing a set amount as the boost pressure increases. The amount of retard is user adjustable from 0 to 3° per PSI of boost... A normal setting is 1°/PSI but more or less can be used depending ...

WebJun 25, 2008 · More timing lowers the heat. The car isn't making any boost at below 3000 ish rpm so adding timing between 1500 to 2500 rpms just helps throttle rol on ( to a point) What you want is more heat generated at 3000 rpms through 4000 rpms and then only between about 2psi and 8 psi load rows. Lower timing a few degrees in this area.
WebSep 30, 2011 · My interpretastion of what he said was that if you are running say 91 octane and you run 10#'s of boost with as much timing as the motor will tolerate you will make less power than 15#'s of boost and less timing since it will tolerate less timing at higher boost.
